THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Canada’s Yukon is a legendary land famed for its Klondike Gold Rush history, pristine wilderness, and natural phenomena like the midnight sun and the northern lights. The territory teems with wildlife, mighty heritage rivers, and a vibrant arts and culture scene that embodies the spirit of the north. Today, take advantage of your free day to explore the captivating city of Whitehorse, the vibrant heart of this extraordinary region.
In the late morning, embark on a city tour to uncover the historic and trendy sights of Whitehorse. Visit the SS Klondike National Historic Site, one of the last grand paddlewheelers to navigate the Yukon River until the 1950s. Explore the Old Log Church, the oldest building in Whitehorse, and admire the unique Log Cabin Skyscraper, a three-story tower built entirely from logs. After taking in these iconic landmarks, enjoy a leisurely stroll along Main Street, ideal for shopping, browsing galleries, and relaxing in cozy cafés. For the aurora viewing, the air is as crisp as the night sky is dark. The city's noise is a distant memory, leaving you in a serene, peaceful setting. Suddenly, the sky comes alive with shimmering shades of green, blue, and red, dancing in a mesmerizing display. This is no ordinary light show; it's the Aurora Borealis, the most breathtaking natural spectacle in the North. Our Northern Lights Viewing Tour combines premium comfort with an immersive Aurora experience. Enjoy hot chocolate and roast marshmallows over a campfire at our authentic, heated Aurora Basecamp outside the city. Throughout the evening, we’ll share fascinating information about the Northern Lights and offer tips on aurora photography to help you capture this stunning phenomenon. We'll pick you up from your hotel in Downtown Whitehorse and drive you to our heated Aurora Basecamp, just 25 minutes away. After a magical night, we'll return you to your accommodations around 2:00 AM.
The Southern Lakes Resort lies within the Traditional Territory of the Carcross / Tagish First Nation and serves as your home base for exploring the beauty of Yukon’s northern landscape. Enjoy three nights in your cozy lakefront cabin, where you can unwind and soak in the stunning views. Start your journey through the Yukon with relaxing days, immersing yourself in the beauty of one of the world’s last true frontiers. Each day begins with a hearty breakfast, and your evenings are complete with a 3-course dinner, starting with dinner on your first day. You return shuttle to and from Whitehorse is also included in your stay.
All prices are per person based on double occupancy and subject to local taxes - GST, PST or HST.
