Drive approximately 1.5 hours Southwest from Hobart to the Tahune Airwalk and ascend into the canopy on this 600m-long elevated walkway high above the forest floor. Home to the tallest tree in all of Tasmania, standing at 100.5m (about 329.72 ft) you’ll be in awe looking up at the sheer massiveness of it. From young Huon pine seedlings along the riverbank to those that are up to 360-400 years old, this is an amazing walk back in time. These rare and unique trees can live more than 3000 years old. End the tour on the Swinging Bridges in the historic McKay’s Track that is nestled alongside the Huan and Picton Rivers. Along the way, you will pass the ruins of the 1870’s home occupied by Police Constable Francis McPartlan, a former Irish convict who was responsible for walking McKay’s track to check timber licenses.
