THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Upon arrival, make your own way to the hotel. Explore the energetic city streets at your own pace. Visit the Calgary Tower and enjoy the vast view from the 360 lookout deck.
Start your day with a Food Tour as Calgary is filled with maverick chefs and food artisans keen to showcase the taste of Alberta's bountiful produce. Guests enjoy tastings at six to ten spots per tour while also discovering each neighbourhood's history, art and architecture. Tours are two to four hours long and group size is limited to 14 guests.
Pick up your car rental which includes unlimited km, LDW insurance and third party liability, and make your way to Winsport Canada Olympic Park. WinSport is best known as the host facility for the 1988 Winter Olympic games and remains open today as a year-round recreational playground. During the summer fly down North America's fastest zipline, bobsleigh down the legendary sliding track at 80 km/h, take in a scenic round of mini golf or bike down Southern Alberta's only lift accessible mountain bike trails. Also located at WinSport is Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.This is where you can discover the stories of their 540 inducted sport heroes to inspire Canadians in sport and life. The award-winning 40,000 sq. ft. facility features 12 galleries with more than 50 hands-on interactive exhibits and a collection of 95,000 treasured sport artefacts which help to tell the stories of Canada's greatest sport heroes. Visit and be inspired! Conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown, WinSport has dining options, retail store and a fully equipped rental shop so you have everything you need. Later head to CrossIron Mills for some retail therapy - a 1.4 million-square-foot shopping centre is the largest single level shopping centre in Alberta, with 17 large format anchors and more than 200 speciality stores and premium brand outlets.
Today head west towards the beautiful town of Canmore. Stroll down the picturesque main street exploring the boutique shopping and local art galleries. Enjoy a beer at the Grizzly Paw Brewery, a bagel from Rocky Mountain Bagel Company or a drink at one of the many locally run coffee shops. A great not-to-be-missed beginner hike will get you some great views with moderate effort, a short inclined walk past a waterfall to two majestic turquoise lakes.
Today enjoy a leisurely morning before checking out of your hotel and returning your rental car to Calgary.
