THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Today you'll take a water taxi from Alder Bay for a scenic 30 minute service to Farewell Harbour where you'll be greeted by Farewell Harbour Lodge staff at the dock. You'll have a welcome orientation and lunch then time to settle into your accommodations. Your first tour heads out this afternoon in search of marine wildlife in the waters of Johnstone Strait and Blackfish Sound. This evening you'll enjoy dinner and a briefing on the next day's activities and a presentation on the subject of coastal ecology.
Enjoy an early breakfast before departing for a full day bear viewing adventure to one of the main grizzly viewing estuaries. Depending where you adventure to today and the tide you will be viewing from zodiac or on foot. You'll return to the lodge in time for dinner and an evening presentation on the Great Bear Rainforest, bears, whales or First Nations Culture in the area.
Another early breakfast this morning to maximize the best time in the day for wildlife viewings. You'll be on the water by 8am for either a second bear viewing safari or a more extensive exploration of Johnstone Strait and Blackfish Sound. Orcas typically return to these water mid-July and Humpbacks and other marine life remain throughout the season. You'll return in time for dinner and another evening program.
Before you depart back to Vancouver Island you'll have chance to select another short experience. You can choose a morning kayak excursion in the protected crystalline waters near Farewell Harbour Lodge, a marine mammal excursion, a rainforest walk or forest bathing walk. Take a late morning water taxi back to Alder Bay.
All prices are per person based on double occupancy and subject to local taxes - GST, PST or HST.
